SALONE DEL MOBILE 2024: MATTER BY SNØHETTA

LAUFEN returned to the International Bathroom Exhibition in Milan unveiling a stand designed in collaboration with the Norwegian transdisciplinary studio Snøhetta. At the heart of Matter is the tension between archaic materiality, technical expertise and aesthetic refinement. The world of nature and materiality evoked by the installation strikingly contrast with an industrial backdrop, as large shelves display LAUFEN's latest bathroom collections: MEDA, Kartell • LAUFEN, ILBAGNOALESSI, alongside the innovative SMART bathroom.

Previous collaborations with Snøhetta include LAUFEN space Vienna and the Forum at the LAUFEN headquarters in Laufen near Basel

MATTER BY SNØHETTA

At the heart of Matter is the tension between archaic materiality, technical expertise and aesthetic refinement. The tactile allure of clay and brass, our raw materials, strikingly contrast with the innovative sophistication of our collections produced through a dedication to high-tech manufacturing and design vision. Distinctive signature colours have also been assigned to each LAUFEN bathroom collection, instantly revealing their unique character.
 

In a commitment to sustainability, our exhibit is designed with a circular approach, ensuring as many materials as possible are reused within Milan or designated for subsequent applications. This dedication to material lifecycle is a shared ethos between LAUFEN and Snøhetta, which has placed sustainability in architecture and a sensitive approach to landscape and resources at the centre of its work since its foundation.

We have embarked on a multi-disciplinary exploration with Snøhetta, involving not just architecture but also a new way of communicating and understanding the brand universe. Previous collaborations include LAUFEN space Vienna and the Forum at the LAUFEN headquarters in Laufen near Basel, where they have masterfully reimagined the interior, crafting a multi-level journey through our entire collection.

About Snøhetta

Snøhetta started its career in 1989 and has designed some of the world’s most notable public and cultural projects. Their practice has maintained its original transdisciplinary approach, and often integrates a combination of architecture, landscape, interior, product, graphic, digital design and art across its projects. The collaborative nature between Snøhetta's different disciplines is an essential driving force of the practice.

FUORISALONE 2024: COLOUR ARCHAEOLOGY BY ROBERTO SIRONI

At the Milan Design Week 2024, LAUFEN presented “Colour Archaeology”, a project by Roberto Sironi. Presented within the LAUFEN space Milano, it shares the culmination of an academic research undertaken by Sironi on behalf of LAUFEN, and conveyed with the imaginative vision of Studio Lys and Beda Achermann.
The installation is displayed until end of May 2024.
